With the government encouraging us all to stay in our homes, away from those who do not live with us, it can feel a little like we’re being imprisoned albeit in the comfort of our own space. We understand your struggle with wanting to keep you and your loved ones safe, while also maintaining a normal life and avoiding cabin fever. Especially since we simply do not know when the UK will begin to recover.
So here we are, to offer insight in how to make the best out of a bad situation.
Have you ever considered turning this advised ‘lock-down’ into a ‘staycation?’
They say your home is your castle, and there is no reason why you can’t make it one during this time. Whether you live in a house, a flat or a room, there are plenty of fun ways to make your personal space every bit the luxurious castle you’ve dreamed about.
Start with the creature comforts. Staying in means not leaving the house for prolonged periods of time. Make sure you make your space as comfortable as possible by keeping it clean and tidy. Do some light dusting and vacuuming regularly to keep your environment as clutter free as possible.
Then there’s the layout of how your going to be able to work. If you’re currently working from home or still in the process of finding a new job, you will need a dedicated space to be doing your work. Don’t let work go beyond this designated space. Be strict on yourself about where you do your work and keep to it. The last thing you want is to have your work life mix in with your personal life, especially when there is no real distance when moving from ‘work’ to ‘home’. On another note, after your work day is finished make sure you are cleaning up after yourself. If your space is limited and your working in a room that you will also be using as your personal space, then even more reason to clean up. The last thing you want when you’re relaxing is to be reminded of something stressful at work or to have your personal time intruded by something you realise, you’d forgotten to do!
During your social distancing it’s important to have a safe space for you to feel comfortable so continue to do your regular indoor routine, fill you space with the creature comforts you need and make sure you’re reading up on updates from reputable sources.
Take this time to grow yourself personally and work on the things you’d otherwise not have time to do when you’re busy taking over the world!
Remember, you’ve got this! And for those moments when you don’t feel like you do, we’ve got you.
