TITLE : Foods Purchasing Manager (Fruit & Veg category)

Location: Germany

Team: Retail: Fresh fruits and Vegetables Purchasing Team

Salary Eu55k-80k + benefits

Sector : Procurement of fresh foods (mainly vegetables and fruits categories) for large supermarket and restaurants chains across Germany

Your suppliers: Farms. You will be negotiating with owners of farms, apple orchards etc developing excellent relationships with suppliers, driving down costs where possible and negotiating quantities and delivery dates

The role:

This role will best suit someone with a purchasing background looking to take their strategic next step within the food category of fresh fruit and fresh vegetables and join a fast-expanding company that supplies a vast array of retailers across all of Germany.

Duties

• 1) Manage current food supplier relationships

• You will be working with existing suppliers across Germany
• Nurture excellent relationships with suppliers with the aim of developing long-term relationships that will help to deliver cost savings to customers
• Manage supplier delivery times and logistics
• Visit farms regularly

• Logistics and management of delivery schedules
• Manage supply issues

• Negotiate improvements and discounts where agreed Service Levels are not met
• Innovate and agree new delivery schedules
• 2) Find new Suppliers

• Research and approach new potential suppliers
• Visit the farms personally to establish rapport and explore supply options
• Create new long-term relationships
• Negotiate and set up contracts and agree on KPI’s
• Liaise with Head Office in Germany regarding new supplier contracts
• Lead regular service and quality reviews
• Liaise with the customer care team regarding any customer product complaints
• 3) Contract negotiation
• Negotiate new supplier terms of business
• Negotiate delivery schedules, food quantities, discount structures
• Research competitor offerings to suppliers
• Stay up to date on competitor pricing structures

Requirements:

• Fluent German and English
• Food purchasing background ( Fruit and veg categories)
• Car driver : you will be visiting farms all over Germany and also in Austria
