PURCHASING MANAGER( Engineering- The company is a specialist business and acts as a purchasing ” hub” for heavy industry and manufacturing clients across the world who are looking for specific components . The business employs about 100 staff globally and the Head office is in Colchester where you will be based and from where you will source, negotiate and purchase technical heavy industry related equipment. You need to be able to read and interpret technical drawings and understand engineering concepts.
TITLE: PURCHASING Manager: Engineering
SALARY : £40, 000-£45,000 per annum + excellent benefits , 25 days holiday and performance related bonus

This is a lovely role ! The company is a specialist business and acts as a purchasing ” hub” for heavy industry and manufacturing clients across the world who are looking for specific components . The business employs about 100 staff globally and the Head office is in Colchester where the team will take orders from clients and then source technical products globally for dispatch. This is a classic senior level technical customer care and purchasing role in which you will be taking inbound enquiries from clients who will ask you to source certain pieces of heavy industrial equipment.
Your role is to source heavy industrial equipment and then liaise with the client , add a ” finders fee” and then liaise with the warehouse who will dispatch it . Nice and straight forward.
THE ROLE: You will be supporting the UK and international sales team
- Take inbound enquiries from industrial manufacturing clients based globally looking for a specific piece of heavy industry or essential spare part
- Read technical drawings of Gaskets, Valves (actuated and manual),Flame arrestors, Tank treatment and understand the customer’s requirements
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers across Korea, the USA and Europe to source the product
- Negotiate a price and delivery schedule with the supplier
- Add the finder’s fee (or margin) to the product and create a price quotation for the client
- Negotiate with the client and agree terms of business
- Liaise with the warehouse who will arrange all the logistics
- Constantly update the client
- All post sales administration
- Provide an outstanding level of personal customer care at all times.
REQUIREMENTS
- Fluent English
- Own transportation (the office is based in an old mill)
- Previous experience in engineering related purchasing
