Role: Business Data Analyst
Pay rate: £140 to £216 per day (Equivalent to £36,600 to £57,000 per annum)
Expected duration: 9 Months
Start: Immediate
Location: Central London – Hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home
Our client is a global technology business. Their indirect tax team are looking to hire a business analyst. The tax data management team’s vision is to provide data stability, reliability and innovative automation through proven practices in data management standards. They are focused on providing exceptional customer experience and they deliver solutions that create long-term value and operational scale.
We’re looking for candidates who are able to learn new content quickly, who are willing to go out of the comfort zone, who possess ironclad judgment and integrity around confidential information.
In this role you will be working very closely with the indirect tax compliance customers and technology teams. You will be supporting complex data pipelines, dashboards and data solutions that underpin the reporting for indirect tax.
As a data analyst, you will be expected to have strong data management, query technical skills, understand the data to support indirect tax compliance teams across the globe.
Key job responsibilities
- Support indirect tax colleagues with data requests, data questions and/or extracting data on their behalf, where standard reports do not meet the requirements.
- Coordinate monthly releases and change management activities.
- Improve existing processes by automating and reducing manual work.
- Collaborate with technology partners to investigate issues in the tax data pipelines.
- Hands-on detailed data research and analysis of a large financial data set; investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues.
- Implement projects to optimise data operations.
- Work with key technology providers to support technology upgrades, migrations, etc.
- Create and maintain QuickSight dashboards used by tax compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in analytics, financial systems, data engineering or business intelligence.
- Solid experience using SQL, ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
- Familiar with indirect tax concepts and accounting processes.
- Experience with data visualisation tools, such as QuickSight.
Preferred qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge in other programming languages, like Python and/or Alteryx will be appreciated.
- Familiarity with solutions such as AWS, EC2, S3, Redshift.
- Experience gathering business requirements, using industry standard business intelligence tool(s) to extract
- data, formulate metrics and build reports.
- Experience communicating analytical outcomes to both business and technical teams.
- The candidate is expected to attend 3 days/week in the office
