Location: London (Hybrid working with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home)
Our client is a leading video on demand streaming provider. They are looking to hire a Broadcast Engineer to provide day-to-day Engineering support for their Global Live Sports Production team. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive and deliver projects while maintaining high standards for resiliency with internal monitoring tooling.
As part of the technical operations team, you will support Tier 1 produced sports properties across Europe, working closely with internal production teams and external partners. The position is primarily based in their London office, with some remote support required, including weekends and evenings during live sports events.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled and organised Production Support Engineer, embodying excellence in the Broadcasting Profession.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the delivery of all support engineering requirements to assist the internal team with monitoring and networking connectivity.
- Coordinate the weekly scheduling of video encoding for monitoring purposes.
- Manage a shared RTS comms system, offering dedicated support to both internal stakeholders and external partners connecting in.
- Administer the communications system, including maintenance, updates and support.
- Administer the Cisco network layer across Europe with AWS VPC backbone, managing expansion opportunities internally and externally.
- Facilitate connectivity into third-party partners through AWS Direct Connect, including onboarding.
- Conduct regular and periodic testing of internal systems to ensure availability.
- Oversee internal issue ticketing processes through to resolution, monitoring system problems and maintenance.
- Collaborate on team projects as needed, providing some level of project management.
- Ensure that shared technical documentation is kept updated and maintain effective communication practices.
REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of broadcast production engineering principles.
- Background in broadcast technology encompassing IP video 2110, AES 67, UHD & HD video, HDR & SDR video, 5.1 & Dolby Atmos audio, Graphics, and various video codecs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of broadcast comms systems, including audio routing. Desirably with experience in supporting and managing RTS products.
- Capable of delving deeply into issues, fault finding, and troubleshooting effectively.
- Maintaining composure and performing well in high-pressure and time-sensitive broadcast production environments.
- Understanding of IT technologies and associated challenges such as network infrastructure, virtualisation, storage, cloud services, and network security.
- Adaptive learner with the ability to stay updated on technical advancements in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Collaborative team player with self-motivation and a strong commitment to consistent customer service, understanding business requirements.
