Distribution /Relationship Account Manager (FOOD)
This is a Distribution Manager role with a difference in that the role emphasises your Key Relationship Management skills and background as you will build, nurture and maintain excellent relationships with your supply chain ( Distributors ) globally with the aim of ensuring that standards are high and that there is a willingness for them to help and support your business aims. A standard ” warehouse” backgrund is not enough for this role although you must have the supply chain experience within the food sector and excellent analytical skills. TITLE : FOOD SUPPLY -CHAIN : Distribution /Relationship Account Manager
Salary : Total Compensation of circa £75000 ( comprised of a base of £61k plus 10% bonus and car allowance of £7750)
Location: Bucks (Hybrid work 3 days in office/2 days wfh and flexible hours )
Sector: Food
Languages required: Fluent English (other languages are an asset )
Contract : Permanent role with some travel for Distributor Reviews and personal training
The Company
International food company . This role is unusual in that its more of an account /relationship manager role than pure supply chain ops. You will be joining a team of 8 other DM’s who are all based internationally and between you, will look after the distributor supply chain . This role will require someone with a relationship manager background as well as an understanding of logistics. This is an open plan office environment and you will be fully responsible for the management of distributors across the supply chain in order to drive down distribution food costs and push up service quality, thereby ensuring the highest level of customer care and savings for clients
The role
The working language here will be English although your distributor network will be international
- RELATIONSHIP ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT : Build strong relationships with existing direct delivery- to-store food suppliers ( distributors and / or re-distributors)
- Undertake monthly Distributor reviews
- Set, monitor and review KPI’s
- Research potential service improvements
- Make innovations in delivery scheduling
- Undertake monthly service reviews, track performance and attend distributor meetings
- Create successful action plan
- Investigate bringing in special promotions, new products and look at price changes
- Challenge distributors based globally to identify efficiencies and cost saving opportunities
- Ensure that there is harmonization across all the distributors in terms of their delivery capabilities
- Identify weaknesses in the distribution network and undertake ” mock tests”
- Bid management for new distributors and contract negotiations
- Work with the customer services team to investigate areas for improvement in delivery, service and price
- Keep up to date on food trends
- Research the company’s competitive advantage, potential threats, industry trends, emerging technology, market opportunities and stakeholder focus – and bringing it all together
Requirements
- Supply chain experience within the food sector ideally
- Proven Distribution Management experience
- Car driver
