French Speaking Localisation Lead

Role: French Localisation Lead
Start: ASAP
Location: Ideally London (Work will be carried out remotely)
Hours required: 10 – 15 hours per week
Pay rate: £13.00 – £15.00 per hour + Holiday pay

Our client is a world leading e-commerce platform within the travel & leisure sector.They are looking for an English-to-French translator with proof-reading of marketing material, ideally within the travel industry, who will help with a variety of language tasks in support of the French website.
You will be part of an exciting and highly motivated Localization team. As the French Language Lead, you will own and drive all language quality. You will ensure that all products and marketing materials are localized to a high standard and provide a native user experience and a local look-and-feel for the French market.

Responsibilities

* Proofread all French translation to verify that it is correct for business requirements, using internal tools. (The majority of translation work is carried out by the main translation supplier and the French language lead will proof-read it.)
* Perform the QA in a web-based environment (training provided)
* Ensure the business’s French terminology and style guide are adhered to.
* Provide language input to ensure the site has a “French” look and feel
* Work with dynamic strings
* Find creative workarounds to deal with variables
* Provide creative solutions for translations for mobile apps, where string length is an issue.
* Other French language work as required, such as localising geo names, live site QA.

Requirements

* Native French linguist
* Minimum of 3-year translation and proof-reading experience (English to French)
* Excellent written and verbal French (native) and English
* Comfortable with Windows and Office 2007, especially Excel, as well as FireFox and IE
* Good understanding of the geography of France
* Experience in web localisation an advantage
In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

* Experience with online travel sites
* Familiarity with CAT and LQA tools, such as LISA, would be an advantage
* Experience with GlobalSight would be an advantage
