Helping our candidates with their visa requirements
Who requires a Visa?
Nationals of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and Commonwealth country will not be required to apply for a UK visa. The same applies to USA citizens too.
If you’re planning to stay in the UK for more than six months, you will require a visa regardless of your nationality.
UK Visa Application
Applying for a UK visa is highly dependent on the type of visa you need. Particularly if your visa falls under the Points-Based System. Although most of the requirements are the same for each category, the system evaluates them differently. Certain additional requirements vary by type.
For example, if you’re applying for an investor visa, you’ll need to prove that you have sufficient funds. If you’re an employee and want to work for a company in the UK, you can apply for a skilled worker visa, on the condition that your employer is an eligible sponsor.
Points-Based System
The United Kingdom’s Point-Based System (PBS) regulates immigration to the UK. To be eligible for a visa, you it’s necessary to score a particular number of points for each visa, and you must demonstrate that you can do so.
EU Pre-settled and Settled Status
Information on the EU Pre-settled and Settled Status:
The deadline for most people to apply for pre-settled or settled status from the EU Settlement Scheme was 30 June 2021.
You can only apply to the scheme after this deadline if you:
- have a good reason for making a late application
- are upgrading from pre-settled to settled status
- are applying to join a family member in the UK
- have a valid work, study, or family visa
You usually have to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme online. There are a few situations when you must use a paper form.
You don’t need to be in the UK to apply.
